Why The New 52 Reboot Is Different Than All The Rest.

Hey all!  Long time no see.  I’m sorry I’ve been absent for a while but I’ve been busy writing for another site called Retcon Punch!  If you haven’t already, you should check it out.  We write reviews for all sorts of comics and our favorite part is when we get to talk to all of you in the comments section!  As for A Wild Crisis Appears, I’m going to be trying a lot harder to get back into my groove here.  I really appreciate all of you who follow me and leave comments.  I want to let you know that I’m not going anywhere! The New 52 Is A Bona Fide Success! But How Long Will It Last?

It’s been a little over a year since the launch of The New 52 so I feel it’s time to take a look back at this initiative’s success and look forward a bit to what The New 52 will look like in the future.  Regardless of how you feel about the reboot it’s clear that The New 52 gambit worked out very well for DC Comics and, according to some, the comic book industry as a whole.  In light of that, I wanted to talk about about the success of The New 52, the concept of reboots, and my concerns with how the New 52 will look like a few years from now. Should We Still Care About Booster Gold?

So Justice League International Annual #1 recently came out and I wanted to say a few things about it, the less than necessary series that preceded it, and the titles star character, Booster Gold.  Reading this series and learning the few things we have learned about the New 52 version of Booster leads me to ask:  Should we still care about Booster Gold?   Continue reading

Why You Should Read…Batman: Earth One

So I’ve just finished reading Batman: Earth One.  And after some “ooh’s,” a few “ahh’s”  and more than one uncontrollable fit of maniacal laughter I absolutely had to post some reasons why everyone, especially YOU should read this book. Continue reading

10 DC Properties Warner Bros. Should Focus On Other Than The Metal Men.

So according to the internets, Barry Sonnenfeld is going to helm the film version of The Metal Men.  In case you don’t know, The Metal Men are the creation of Dr. Will Magnus who, thanks to his “responsometers” imbued his creations with various (and often wacky) personalities.  The Metal Men (and Woman) have special abilities derived from the alloys (or ya know…metals) they are made from.  Sooooo Gold can stretch super far, Lead can stop harmful radiation, and so on and so forth.  Here’s the wiki if you care to know the rest.  The bottom line is they are a crazy bunch of super robots and are a lot of fun to read.  When they actually have a comic book that is. Wally West For DC’s New 52!

Like many others out there I’m a HUGE Wally West fan.  When I started reading comics Wally was long established as The Flash.  That was it, he was The Fastest man alive and that’s all I needed to know.  As I started looking into the history of the DC Universe and The Flash I realized that he was part of a much richer heritage and legacy.   Continue reading

The World Has Been Avenged. When Will We See Justice?

First off, I’m not interested in writing a review for Marvel’s The Avengers.  Mainly because the internet is already flooded with various reviews and articles on how The Avengers beat the bad guys and obliterated box office records.  It’s obvious that the world loves The Avengers (myself included) except for apparently 7% of the critics out there according to Rotten Tomatoes.  What I am interested in writing about is how DC and Warner Bros. absolutely NEED to follow Marvel’s lead (no matter how much it may pain them) and create a series of their own super hero movies that lead to a Justice League film.  Continue reading
