Why You Should Read Animal Man of DC’s New 52.

Animal Man has been one of my favorite characters ever since I read Grant Morrison’s run published in the 80’s.  This book cemented my love of this character.  It was weird and wonderful and full of action and adventure.  Plus, at one point Animal Man does hallucinogenics on top of a mountain.  That is clearly awesome.  Many years later, I’m thrilled to see that one of the best things to come out of DC’s New 52 is the brand new ongoing Animal Man series by Jeff Lemire.   Continue reading


Making a Good Superman Trilogy

Man of Steel needs to be big.  It needs to clean the slate of previous film follies and wow audiences.  Essentially it needs to do the opposite of what Superman Returns did, which, in case you missed it, turned Superman into an absentee father.  Good job Warner Brothers.  Anyway, here are just a few ideas of what I think the studio can do to make Superman the film franchise it can be.  Continue reading

Justice League Assemble?

Just a thought about the eventual Justice League movie that DC and WB keep assuring us will happen. First of all, let’s face facts.  Marvel won.  They beat DC to the punch and brilliantly created the Marvel Universe (or parts of it anyway) on the big screen.  Through a series of 5 films they were able to introduce us to characters and concepts that would eventually lead to the big screen version of The Avengers.  This was no accident.  This was perfectly planned if not always perfectly done (sorry Hulk). Spoiler Spoiled!

Okay, so I know it’s fake, but when I first read this article from bleedingcool.com about bringing back the character of The Spoiler I couldn’t help but think that it really wouldn’t be worth it if it was true.  Don’t get wrong, I’m a big fan of Stephanie Brown.  It’s just that I think it would be a slap in the face not only to the fans (all 100 of us) but to Ms. Brown to bring her back sans her experience of being Batgirl.
